Tim, Lizzy and I went to Indian Summer Festival at the Summerfest Grounds at Milwaukee’s Lakefront today. We had a really nice time, and we enjoyed good food.
There was beautiful artwork and jewelry for sale. Several vendors had natural and organic items from balms to ease pain to soaps to aroma therapy. It was interesting to see that many vendors had bundles of white sage for sale. Tim discovered it is for purification rituals.
I was very excited that we could attend the Contest Pow Wow. I enjoyed the costumes. The young man I have pictured above had more to his outfit. It was so awesome!
There was prayer and honor to all of the veterans. There was a lot of thanks to those that have served. Color Guard presented different tribes colors. There was also a tent displaying many pictures of Native Americans that served in the US Military. It was awesome!
Lizzy really enjoyed seeing the horses. She was able to pet several of them. There was a presentation about the horses.
Lizzy especially liked the outfits featuring the horses. They were each very unique and beautiful!
We all enjoyed fry bread. Tim and I had fry bread tacos, Lizzy had Native Nachos. This was potato chips (home made) covered in lettuce, ground beef, cheese, and wild rice. She really enjoyed it! Tim and Lizzy each had cheesy fry bread. Tim and I also had buffalo burgers. Lizzy had chili. Sorry I don’t have food pictures!
Tim got a beautiful poncho. I got a blanket. Lizzy got two bracelets that have dream catchers in them.
If you get a chance to go, enjoy!
Thank you for stopping by!
