She stands next to the flagpole at The Highground, and she is one of the first memorials in the United States to pay tribute specifically to women veterans.  The statue’s name is “The Nurse”, and she was originally submitted by Roger Brodin in a competition in Washington D.C.  When the statue did not win that competition, The Wisconsin chapters of The Vietnam Veterans of America purchased her for The Highground.  She is three feet tall and made of granite.
