Regardless of how you feel about war and the fact that we have/had troops in the Middle East for war, the troops that served deserve to be honored and have a place to reflect, heal and feel appreciated.  The Highground is the perfect place for this.  Stop in and take the self guided tour (stop in the shop to get your headphones).

The Highground in Neillsville, WI is in the process of making a tribute to those that served in Middle East conflicts.  It is being done in the shape of a boot.  The boot print is to symbolize the marching forward in the global war against terrorism.  The photo below talks about all of the things the boot print represents. This was well thought out.  They have a lot of fundraising to do yet to complete this tribute, but I know they will get it done!

There will be bronze statues to represent US Military personnel.  They will also have granite tiles that will be placed in honor of loved ones.  These can be purchased and personalized.  They will cover the entire perimeter.  They will also have reflection benches to sit and reflect and rest.  The tribute will also have battlefield cross statues and beautiful flower beds.  It will be quite impressive when it is compete.

The barriers, benches, and statues will also be available to purchase.  There is info on the Highground website at  http://www.thehighground.org/persian-gulf/index.html.  Click on the blue words about half way down on the left side if interested.

The Highground is such a peaceful place to visit so full of our nation’s military history.  It is run by volunteers.  I hope you get a chance to stop and visit if you are ever in the area.

Thank you for stopping by!
